Fannugedharin can be translated to have multiple meanings, all leading to hold true something that the organization strives to bring together.
Fannugedharin in dhivehi, the Maldivian language can mean, children of talent, home for the talented/creatives, a special area to gather at the beach
and with a fun twist of word play also implies a fun gathering, or gathering of talents, which pretty much sums up the theme and hope it aspires for.

Founded in 2013 in hope of reviving music scene and creating a platform to support and develop primarily local musicians in Maldives, Fannugedharin successfully started hosting regular live jam sessions in both public and private spaces bringing together a community appreciative of this initiative.
The founders comprising of fellow musicians and supporters of local arts, over the next 10 years proceeded to take on this vision and hosted 31 music/art sessions and 2 festivals across the capital city of Maldives- Male’ and Hulhumale’, gaining support from artists and community alike.
In December 2022, Fannugedharin officially registered as a non-government organization.

These creative gatherings have over recent years grown richer, with platforms added for artists of different talents making it often a small festival with live music, good food, handmade crafts with the artists present to interact and talk directly with the community.
In 2023, Fannugedharin signed Memorandum of Understanding with the government of Maldives and successfully executed 10 monthly sessions through the year. It was positively received by the art community and the public, attracting over 300 participants and 25,000 visitors.
This agreement gave the opportunity for both established and upcoming talents to perform or showcase their products and be recognized in the art community. This also enabled us to collaborate with US Mission to Maldives with Houston based Soul Street Dance company – a hip hop dance workshop and performance
Over the years, Fannugedharin has grown to become a creative house hold name that brings people together.
